    About The Author

    Ronke Sokefun is a seasoned Strategic Board Leader with over 35 years experience post call-to-bar. She is renowned for guiding organizations through risk management, corporate governance, compliance, and ESG challenges to achieve global industry standards. Her multifaceted expertise spans Legal Consulting & Advisory, Oil and Gas, Public Service, and Financial Services Regulations.

    As Group Chief Legal Officer, Ronke led transformative legal strategies and operations across various subsidiaries, particularly excelling in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring, which have fortified the market positions of numerous corporate entities. Her counsel has been pivotal in shaping board and executive decisions, integrating legal considerations into risk management, and enhancing organizational resilience.

    Ronke's governance expertise is extensive. Her past roles include Board Chair of NDIC, Special Adviser/Director-General of the Bureau of Lands & Survey (OGSG), Commissioner for Urban & Physical Planning (OGSG) and Alternate Director at Airtel. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the International Bar Association.

    Currently, Ronke chairs the Risk and ESG Committee of Oando Plc where she is an Independent Non-Executive Director. She oversees risk management, and ESG mandates. Her leadership in navigating complex challenges such as mergers, governance conflicts, and compliance issues is well-recognized.

    Driven by a commitment to mentoring future leaders, Ronke actively engages with Wimbiz, providing strategic guidance and fostering the development of emerging leaders. Her approach is rooted in consistency, competence, character, and courage, aiming to elevate corporate governance standards and contribute to the sustainability of both public and private entities.
