Prologue
Heartbreak is a shared yet isolating illness that absorbs the heart in its entirety, like a black hole stealing light and all matter. Heartbreak darkens skies, and rots minds. It tortures souls that scream silently. It stretches bodies until the bones shatter. It freezes senses in timelessness, and clouds eyes with unending apathy. Heartbreak arrives the moment you open the door, once you decide to trust. It strikes, leaving you exposed and vulnerable in the cold, retaliating for having committed the most human of crimes that are there to be done. Heartbreak weighs the most when it’s composed of little pieces of you scattered along the long path of a love you would never get tired of betting on. Heartbreak is transparent; it hides cowardly for you to become insane trying to understand it. It camouflages from reality unless it gets enlightened, and you gain courage to testify it with your own words. Maybe then, heartbreak could be overthrown.
