Meditation - Stuart Carter
Part 1 - Introduction: What Meditation Is and Its Benefits
Imagine a scenario where you're completely calm, relaxed, and alert. A warm feeling of euphoria washes through you as your mind breaks out of a dense fog, and you can think with almost perfect clarity about any subject you imagine. A place where your mind can go and work through your problems, soothe all of your emotions to the point that you feel serene and content, and feel much better about yourself, your place in the world, and the future in front of you.
Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Thankfully, that is what Meditation can offer you. In popular culture, Meditation is often seen as something exotic and esoteric to the point that it seems 'strange' to ordinary people. For some, it's something that hippies co-opted from the Buddhists; for others, it's something that's tied in with religion and has no real value to them. At its core, Meditation is a skill that is no different from any other skill that you can learn about in life. Cooking, creative pursuits, technology, sports, and anything else are things that you can learn and be better at, and Meditation is one of them. In fact, Meditation is such an important wellness skill that it's seen a surge in popularity as a form of self-improvement and self-care in the last 20 years that many mainstream medical practitioners - such as Doctors, Therapists, and even Chiropractors - recommend Meditation as part of your daily routine for wellness and self-care because of the benefits alone.
Yet, at the same time, what is Meditation, and how can it help you?
What Is Meditation?
At its core, Meditation is a skill that involves using mental and even physical techniques to hone your mind, clear your thoughts, and strengthen your focus. Many people worldwide use Meditation in their daily lives for a number of reasons, whether it's for religious studies, to relax, to reduce anxiety and stress, to exercise, or more. In fact, the number one reason Meditation is prevalent in all cultures is its many benefits, which we'll detail below.
Historically, Meditation has been a skill
