    But what motivates this intrusive behavior? At its root, it stems from a deep-seated need for control and a desire to feed off the experiences and emotions of others. Intruders often lack a sense of fulfillment and purpose in their own lives. So, they seek to fill this void by inserting themselves into the lives of others. They may feel a thrill or power from gaining access to someone else's business, feeling in the know about others' private affairs, extorting their abundance, or selling them out to other adverse parties. Recognizing their motivations allows us to understand the intruders better while maintaining our boundaries.

    A sense of competition or comparison may also drive intruders. They may feel threatened by the success or happiness of others, and so they seek to bring them down, to insert seeds of doubt, and to undermine their confidence. By making others feel judged or scrutinized, intruders can elevate their own status and feel superior by comparison. Recognizing these tactics and being self-aware of our reactions can help us maintain our confidence and not let the intrusive behavior affect us.

    It is important to note that intrusive behavior can exist on a spectrum, from mildly annoying to deeply destructive. Some individuals may be chronically intrusive, overstepping boundaries and feeding off the energy of others.
