Chapter 1: A Cairo September Unlike Anyother

The relentless Cairo sun, a familiar companion throughout the summer, had finally begun its descent. A gentle breeze whispered through the city, carrying the sweet scent of blooming jasmine and a welcome reprieve from the scorching heat. It was September 5th, 2023 and the air buzzed with the constant melody of birdsong – a symphony that played year-round in this vibrant metropolis. Unlike many places, Cairo's trees retained their emerald cloaks, unfazed by the changing seasons.

Nestled amidst the bustling energy of Madinaty, an upscale district within Cairo, I found solace in Beano's Cafe. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the calming strains of chillout music that drifted from the speakers. Sunlight streamed through the large glass windows, illuminating the lush greenery outside. Palm trees, their fronds swaying gracefully in the wind, seemed to dance in a silent ballet. It was the perfect setting to catch up on work and lose myself in the captivating panorama of the city.

Suddenly, my laptop chimed, snapping me out of my reverie. An email notification from Gian Marco, a travel agency manager from Italy, filled the screen. Gian Marco was a familiar face, someone I'd built a successful working relationship with over the years. His agency catered to a discerning clientele, and their trust in my services was a source of pride.

His email requested a room reservation for a cis couple visiting Cairo in October. He'd chosen the Panorama View Pyramids Hotel, a name that instantly conjured images of breathtaking sunrises over the ancient wonders.
