Episode 1: In the 1970s, a young entrepreneur named John Mackey had a vision for a new kind of grocery store. Inspired by his love for natural and organic foods, he opens a small hippie food store in Austin, Texas, called SaferWay. The store quickly becomes a hub for like-minded individuals who share a passion for healthy living and sustainable practices. As the store grows in popularity, John realizes that he needs to expand his reach to share his mission with more people.
Episode 1 (expanded): It was the late 1960s, and the world was in a state of flux. The hippie movement had swept across the nation, challenging traditional norms and values. In the music capital of Austin, Texas, a young entrepreneur named John Mackey was inspired by this countercultural spirit.
