Foreword
WONDERS AFAR.
From the beginning, humans were curious about the wonders of a far away world which was unknown and amazing. Many looked up at the sky above the cosmic line..and as it was beyond their understanding they started worshipping everything as God.
Because they realized that events from above were not under their control, they came into terms with natures' law. Though they were ignorant about the occurrence of solar system or stars and planets, they realised the importance of the Sun in their lives.
But, inquisitive brains started thinking, and eventually they made discoveries on these spectacular wonders. When Aristotle who was born in 384 BC discovered the shape of the earth as sphere, he was rejected and ridiculed.
Same was the fate of many discoveries.
Sir Isaac Newton discovered the rainbow of colours in a ray of light. The clear white light was a compound of seven visible colours, and is the facts behind a rainbow, the celestial marvel .
Out of all stars and planets, the sun and the moon claim the core attraction as both are the foremost noticeable sights in the sky.
This book Come, Let’s touch the Sun
translated by the child prodigy Austin Ajit from a Malayalam book Varu namukku Suryane thodam
written by the famous writer Unni Ammayambalam makes a sincere effort to teach children through storytelling so that facts will be interesting for them.
This is an educative narration which throws light in the dark tunnel of ignorance about certain phenomenal occurrence in and around the sun. Starting with an incident of a transformer burst , the story unfolds in a series of scientific happenings around us.
This book teaches about the Solar storm and how it causes a possible disaster in the man made field of electric and electronics discoveries.
The little hero Arun alias Kochu tells the story of how he got wronged everywhere when he tried to confront the ignorance of people. [ the punishment of his father was little too harsh ] Kochu’s father represents the ignorance of the society, but later he realizes the truth on science. Through Book Maman
the author teaches everything scientifically and made an effort to wash away ignorance!
Book Maman covered evolution , Archimedes principle, northern lights etc in a short, simple way.
According to NASA a powerful solar storm occurred in May 29 this year! It was very intense , but it couldn’t penetrate the earth’s atmosphere.
In fact, ignorance causes many hindrances in the path of progress. In India, a section of people still believe that eclipses are happening when Rahu
swallows the Sun and the Moon occasionally
