    Mindfulness eating - Chuck

    Chapter 1: Understanding Mindful Eating

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. - Virginia Woolf

Mindful eating is the practice of being fully present when you eat or drink. Most of us tend to eat while watching TV, working, talking to someone on the phone, or doing various kinds of tasks. Mindful eating is completed based on the concept of mindfulness. When you do not eat mindfully, you might not be able to notice when you have consumed a few pieces of candy, had another cup of coffee, or finished a whole plate of food. It is primarily because consuming food is second nature to you. You are most likely to consume something numerous times during the course of the day. Most people feel too stressed or too busy to take a break and eat food. But how often do you consume your food without any kind of interruption or distraction? How often do you try to savor the drink or food that you consume? The chances are high that you might be eating on auto mode and not focusing on the taste of the food, how it feels, and how it impacts the brain and body. When you start eating mindfully, you will get to pause, slow down, and pay attention.

    No Restrictions

Mindful eating is not like any conventional diet plan. There is no need to eliminate any food, no quick fixes, and no fads. You can use mindful eating as a framework to start making mindful food choices that can lead to better health and weight loss. Mindful eating is all about being present at the time of eating, allowing you to truly savor the food items without any kind of anxiety, guilt, judgment, or internal commentary. Such an approach is about spending less time concentrated on your body weight and also the storylines that can be found around your weight.

Conventional diet plans are well known for creating most of the stress around consuming food, leading to a wide array of false expectations, intensity, and pressure. Also, most of us tend to see food as a punishment or reward. It is the reason why we feel that we deserve a snack or a bite of something and think of the same as a treat. When you can be more aware of what you eat, your mind will be calmer. When you have a calm mind, you will be less prone to being stressed or agitated or to eat emotionally. In fact, you will gain increased clarity so that you can see your eating patterns in a better way. Such kind of clarity can help you in making better choices. Bringing mindfulness to your table is about making a gentler and kinder approach to your eating
