    INTRODUCTION

Your family relationships are changing. You’re walking the tightrope, balancing your career and home. You’re launching children out of the nest and caring for aging parents while worrying if you’re saving enough for your retirement years. You’re not in the Twilight Zone. You’re in your midlife years.

What are the midlife years? According to Psychologytoday.com, midlife is generally acknowledged as the years between one's early 40s to early 60s, but there’s about 10 years of wiggle room on either side of this range. These years can be one of the most taxing seasons of a woman’s life as she deals with the multiple stressors that can occur. Stressors may include work/life balance, changing family dynamics, aging parents, financial challenges, becoming an empty nester, health challenges, and the biggie—menopause. These stressors can test the faith of any woman, causing her to wonder if she’ll ever make it to a peaceful existence again.

The author has journeyed through these years, has had her faith tested and her spirit anchored, and has written this pocketbook of devotions to offer a source of ongoing encouragement for women as they navigate their midlife years. By sharing uplifting and affirming thoughts from scripture that address the various challenges midlife presents, she points women to the God who can help them survive their midlife years and come out triumphantly on the other side.

So whether you’re sipping your morning coffee before another hectic day of work or sneaking a moment of solace from a house full of noisy grandchildren, dip into these devotions. For in this sacred space you will discover that midlife isn’t a twilight zone—it’s a place where faith can bloom anew.

Nothing irks me more as I live my midlife years than arriving on time at my doctor’s office and then waiting for what seems like an eternity until the nurse tells me the doctor is ready to see me. I did my part. I scheduled my appointment. I arrived on time. It doesn’t seem fair that I must sit…and wait.

But when I finally saw my doctor and he explained the reason for the wait, I was not upset anymore because I learned there was a purpose for the wait.

Oftentimes, I also get upset at my heavenly Father when it seems like it is taking Him a while to answer my prayers. Why is it taking so long for Him to answer my prayer for healing from a health issue I’ve battled for years? Why is it taking so long for Him to answer my prayer for my mother who can't seem to remember who I am anymore?  Or my prayer for my young adult child battling an addiction they can’t seem to overcome?

When we find ourselves wondering why it seems to
