Insomnia

The moon glows

through the closed windows 

the moon is my friend

as I toss and turn in my sleep

reminding me of its Creator;

when I can’t sleep

I should pray

the calming words of His

and leaving my thoughts up to Him

knowing He and the moon watch over me

I feel at peace

and can finally sleep. 

Night

The moon introduced me

to the depth of the night

sitting in the glow of the moon

it shines more light on my fears.

Dream Vs Reality

I would rather fall asleep

to day dream of my future

than live in reality

be in my dreams

until life is as good or better in reality.

Strip Me

Strip me, strip me from this world

look at me, at who I really am

peel away the layers

Am I good person

with good deeds overflowing

or am I a bad person

with bad deeds as high as the mountain?

Strip me, strip me from this world

look at me, at who I really am

Is there anything I can change?

I'll go the mile,

just to do so

I want to see a smile on your face

Strip me, strip me from this world.

Away from this World

Away from this world

I look down

everything different

No one gets to experience

the feelings my poetry brings

or understand

a life covered by

my faith, strengths and weaknesses

Away from this world

a me never found.

Dawn

It’s quiet

with only me awake

hearing the birds

and feeling the earth

as I pray for the day.

Wilting Mind

My mind is wilting

like a dying flower

the sun never shines

my roots don’t nourish me

I don’t notice the beauty around me

I’m giving up

but I hope the ones around me keep trying

changes always come, 

so keep blossoming.
