    Jasmine dug her hand into her desk drawer and felt around. She unzipped her pencil case and tipped its colourful contents onto the desk, spreading everything out to see all of the items more clearly. After roughly shoving her pencils back into their case, she heaved a huge sigh of frustration. It was no good. Her favourite bracelet was nowhere to be seen.

    Jasmine, what are you still doing in class? The bell has already rung, said Miss Chelsea, Jasmine’s teacher. 

    Sorry, I was just looking for my bracelet, Jasmine sighed. I took it off at lunchtime before I went out to the playground. Now I can’t find it anywhere! And it’s my favourite one too!

    Oh. I’m sorry to hear that, Miss Chelsea replied. But I’m sure it will turn up.

    She smiled kindly at Jasmine, who tucked her homework folder under her arm and left the classroom.

    Later that afternoon, Jasmine decided to meet her friends at their favourite lakeside park. She clipped a leash on her dog Jefferson and together they set off down the path.

    Jefferson was a large and very handsome golden retriever. He had a shaggy, golden coat the colour of melted toffee, with velvety-soft ears that Jasmine loved to stroke between her fingers.

    Jasmine was still upset about her missing bracelet, but as she strode along breathing in the fresh air she began to feel a little better. As the park beside the lake came into view Jefferson turned his head towards her. He wagged his splendid floaty tail and
