The Start of the Treasure Hunt
With the biggest snowfall of the winter just ending, Luca is excited to go outside and play in the deep snow. As he puts on his warm winter coat, scarf, boots, hat, and gloves, he shouts up the stairs to his mother and father, Okay, I am going out now to build an igloo in the backyard!
Luca goes down the stairs to the basement and into the garage to find a snow shovel he can use for his project. He finds the perfect shovel, grabs it, and heads back up the steep stairs. He opens the wooden back door of the charming, one-hundred-year-old, big, yellow brick house and is greeted with a burst of cold air. He tramps over a snow-covered brick patio, to a very large backyard.
Luca finds the perfect spot for his igloo, right in the middle of the yard. But as soon as Luca starts to shovel the deep snow into a pile, it starts snowing again very hard. A cold wind starts to blow the snow around, circling Luca, and making it difficult for him to see through it.
After a moment, the wind stops blowing. Luca wipes the snow off his face with his gloves. He turns around to look at his house and sees that it is not his house at all! He is on the snow-covered driveway of his Grammy and Papa's house, out in the country.
Luca is an athletic ten-year-old boy who plays multiple sports, including ice hockey, flag football, lacrosse, basketball, and golf. He is a very good athlete and plays all sports well. Luca is a handsome young man who has short blond hair, big blue eyes,
