About this ebook
It isn't always about getting it right; sometimes, it's the mistakes we make that shapes us into who we become.
The following men left an imprint so powerful in Tissa's path it was bound to change her destiny forever. First, there was Michael. He was wild, adventurous, and full of life. He was also her first love and white.
Next, there was Quentin, a man who would change her from being a young naive girl into a woman. Then he introduced her into a world of abuse and drugs, yet she still lived to tell the story.
Then came Jimmy who would change her life forever, Danny who would turn her into a queen, Thomas who would show her why not love a man, Aaron would teach her age is nothing but a number when it comes to lessons of love, and finally, there was Sidney who would... well, join her in Hey, Love and see where her path ends up.
All the men you find in these pages are loosely based on actual facts and events.

This book was solely written to brighten a rain-filled day. Some may use it as a stepping stone to get to a better level in life. Just know and understand this for all to enjoy. It's not a male-bashing session. Just a few experiences that I've encounter with the men in my time in this life, and now I'm sharing this opportunity.
Now in order to protect the innocent as well as the guilty, I'm only using first-name basis only. And the men, uh mmmm, loosely
base off the men in my life. So grab your popcorn, wine, whatever, sit back and enjoy.
—Tissa
P.S.
Side note: If your lesson was written in Red then that means they were very special to me. If in black, then maybe you should have step your game up to be on team red.

Have you ever wondered why they call it first love
or true love
? It has taken me a long time to figure this one out, but one day, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
January 12, 1983. My parents had moved us to this trailer park in this city called Denton. Yeah, black, people in a trailer park go figure. My dad was working for TI, and my mama was working at Kmart. Bump, what you heard you better believe we were in that bad boy every Friday night following that polar bear with that blue light attached to his ass faithfully. Well, this one particular day, it had snowed; and by us being from Baton Rouge, Mama wasn't the safest driver in the world to start learning how to drive in snow. So she had her coworker Collen drive her home.
Now, any other time, it would have been an ordinary day, but noooo, my mama decided to have me and my baby sister tonsils removed at the same damn time, and to make it worse, our big headed brother who was the middle child kept doing stuff to aggravate us knowing we couldn't scream, so as my sister was planning his murder, I was watching TV. My mother came in and said come to the door and help with the groceries. I was in a pink robe, couldn't talk, with Coke bottle glasses, and hair braided in two braids, I got to the door, and bam! I am struck by a spark out of nowhere. I looked up and saw the bluest eyes I've ever seen in my life. I knew at the moment I loved him. I was eleven, he was twelve. His name was Michael. He went to the same elementary as I did; he was just in a different class. My mama introduced him, and his mom to everybody as his little brother was in the car. From that day forward for the next couple of years, my brother and Michael were best friends. Everywhere they went, I and my sister were tagged along with our crew. No matter where you live growing up, you're going to form a crew. It's just a part of life.
Well, as couples go, my parents decided they needed time away from each other. Michael and I promised to keep in touch. We moved back to Baton Rouge; my daddy stayed in Texas. By the grace of God, it didn't take them long to work their problems out, and we came back. However, when we did, my blued-eyed angel was gone, and I was heartbroken. All my daddy could tell me was Michael's mom had become a Mary Kay consultant, and they moved somewhere up north. Then you know how sometimes life gives you sweet little surprises? Well, mine came that summer; it was also the same time my nosey ass uncles had brought my favorite aunts down for the summer. So everybody was at our house.
So I got a note on the last day of school from this goofy kid named Brian. He asked me if I knew a guy named Michael. I told him I only knew one Michael, but he had moved away. He told me that Michael was going to be here for the weekend because school's about to let out for summer. I gave him my number, and later that night, I got the best phone call of my life. It's him. There was that same excitement. I had the day I met him. We talked and talked, and he and Brian agreed to ride their bikes out to the trailer park. He came inside, spoke to everyone then we went back outside. We're talking promising not to lose touch with each other, and as we're saying our goodbyes, he reached for me and kissed me for the first time under a starlit-filled sky. For that one moment in time, the world stop spinning. I knew at thirteen, I wanted to marry that boy. My nosey uncles ran and told my mama I kissed him, and that evil wanch tore me up with my daddy's belt all because I kissed a boy I didn't care. I loved him; that's all that had mattered. Well, time went on; we kept losing and finding each other.
Three years later, my parents had moved into a house, and I discovered I was pregnant at fifteen. I will never forget that morning. My mama picked up the phone to make her weekly phone call to my granny back home in Baton Rouge and overheard myself and at the time who I thought was my baby's father on the phone, all hell broke loose, and my father left to get a beer. Mind you, my daddy had stopped drinking some odd years earlier. So that October, I turned sixteen coming along with my pregnancy. One November night, a knock come on the door. It was Michael. I screamed. When he realized he had the right house, he went to park his car. I begged my mother to let me tell him that I was pregnant. She agreed. As he and I were talking and sitting at my mother's kitchen table, out of nowhere, this evil woman yelled, You know she's pregnant, right?
