And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ… Ephesians 4:11-12.

In Heroes of Faith in a Contemporary World, Dr. G. Yvette Boatwright captures the very essence of Ephesians 4:11-12. This offering speaks of how the Holy Spirit uses those who are open and obedient to the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit. She provides a great balance between character and calling. She offers testimonies about how the Lord uses women and men in the work of the ministry.

I am amazed at how the Lord has sent many people in her life who helped to shape, mold, and encourage her in Christian ministry as well as Christian living. This book is about Christian ministry, but also Christian maturity. She reminds us that the complete work of salvation is about walking in the fruit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is evident that the Lord’s hand has been upon Dr. Boatwright for a long time!

She has captured the work of the ministry of others who have been on this journey with her, helped her, encouraged her, and corrected her in the way of the Lord. We are encouraged in this writing to continue in the way of the Lord walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.
