This book is dedicated to all grandparents, especially my TATA. No words can describe how much I love you. I hope you stick with chair yoga so we can spend an eternity together. Thank you for being my rock.
Introduction
To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise, we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. –Buddha
Don't you miss the days when you were better able to heal yourself and be completely in tune with your body and its motions? The vitality of youth can be a fleeting feeling if you let it be. Your health is the most important thing you will ever have; cherish it and take care of it always. For those who might have lost their youth and their health, there is always time to rediscover them.
Take the case of my grandmother, who managed to recover the health that she needed to prevent knee surgery. Healthy lifestyle changes gave her body the strength to rely on her natural healing, which isn't something many people can say. Now, she is gracefully aging, and her once fragile and frail body is more active and capable of doing what she puts her mind to. That feeling will not come right away, but it certainly will be something you want to hold onto once you have attained it.
Weight loss can come in a short period, but you find that you gain all that weight back just as quickly as you lost it. To truly see effective weight loss at its finest, you need to integrate it into your daily life and keep it consistent over a long period. This means replacing the bad habits you have with better ones. All the habits you have should contribute to your success as a human being, irrespective of your age. This doesn't mean don't enjoy your guilty pleasures, but learn to do so sparingly.
The three-phased program, each spanning 28 days, was carefully chosen to give people the time they need to start loving exercise. Build exercise into a habit that your body can't do without. Chair yoga ensures that you won't feel like you are rearranging your whole life just to start being more active. The thought of coming up with an exercise routine deters a lot of people from wanting to do it themselves. This is why I'm here to show you how you can get started with your fitness journey and change your life for the better. Do not believe for a second that flexibility just disappears with age. There are plenty of people that look old at 40, just as there are plenty that look young at 60. The greatest block to being able to use your body to its fullest is your mentality. Be young in mind, and you'll always push yourself to feel young in body.
Chapter 1:
Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is a very stress-relieving practice. Taking time out of your day to stimulate and reconnect with your body should be a priority. Any time spent exercising is never wasted. The important thing is to practice effective exercising and stretching to keep your body mobile and flexible, and daily 10-minute chair yoga sessions will help you do just that.
Principles of Chair Yoga
When looking to start chair yoga, you need to focus on three fundamentals to promote effective weight loss and healthy aging:
● Focus on your breath
● Mind your thoughts
● Stay in the
