    SHAPING YOUR FINANCIAL MINDSET

In the chapter Your Money Blueprint from T. Harv Eker's book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, the author delves into the foundational concept that our financial success is determined by our subconscious programming, or blueprint, about money. Eker asserts that this blueprint is formed early in life, influenced by our parents, environment, and experiences. He begins by explaining that much like a blueprint determines the design of a house, our money blueprint dictates our financial destiny. This blueprint is ingrained in our subconscious mind and shapes our thoughts, feelings, and actions regarding money. Eker emphasizes that if we want to change our financial outcomes, we must first understand and alter our money blueprint.

Eker identifies three primary influences on our money blueprint: verbal programming, modeling, and specific incidents. Verbal programming refers to the messages we heard about money from our parents and other authority figures during our formative years. These messages, whether positive or negative, become embedded in our subconscious and shape our beliefs about money. For example, if we frequently heard that money is the root of all evil, we might subconsciously sabotage our financial success to avoid being evil.

Modeling, the second influence, involves observing how our parents or guardians handled money. Children learn by imitation, so if our parents were frugal or extravagant, we are likely to adopt similar habits. If they struggled with money, we might develop a fear of financial instability. Conversely, if they were successful, we might believe that financial success is achievable. The third influence, specific incidents, includes significant experiences related to money that leave a lasting impression. For example, a childhood memory of financial hardship or abundance can profoundly impact our future financial behavior.

Eker argues that to transform our financial lives, we must identify and change our limiting beliefs about money. He introduces the concept of financial thermostats, which are internal settings that determine how much wealth we feel comfortable having. If our financial thermostat is set low due to
