On the night of Sept. 19-20th, 1961, a New Hampshire couple named Betty and Barney Hill experienced a close encounter with an unidentified flying object and 2-3 hours of "lost time" while driving south on rte. 5 near Lincoln, New Hampshire. They filed an official Air Force Project Blue Book report of a brightly lit disc-shaped object the next day, but did not go public with their story until it was discovered by a newspaperman and run by the Boston Traveler in 1965, where it soon gained International attention.
