In this episode Maria talks with her mentor Gayle Merrefield. Gayle has been a SLP for almost 42 years. She graduated from Fairmont State College (now University, in West Virginia) with her undergrad degree in speech, theater and English. She knew almost immediately that she didn’t want to be a high school teacher. After a few years of sorting out her life, Gayle studied Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Georgia, where she earned her master’s degree in 1978. She’s worked in a variety of settings: from public schools, special needs preschool, early intervention, private practice; now consulting/mentoring/teaching.
