Description

April Mims is the SVP of Public Policy at hims & hers. Prior to taking this position, she worked as the Director of Public Policy at Lyft, where she negotiated new regulations for the ride-share industry back in her home state of Texas. April grew up outside of Houston before heading to North Carolina to earn her bachelor’s degree from Duke University; she later earned her J.D. at Georgetown University. While studying at Georgetown, she realized that she wanted to forego the white-shoe law firm route and focus instead on public policy. In part one of this conversation, April reflects on her time as a law student, discusses her experience as a Law Clerk at the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and  shares some of what she learned during her time as the Public Policy Director at Lyft during the early 2010s.   Be sure to tune in next week when we share part two of our conversation with April, in which we’ll focus on her work at hims & hers and how her previous experience has helped her succeed in her current position.   Help us grow!
