Description
Are you seriously reading the show notes?! Don't you know that reading is the worst thing you can do in a Lovecraft story? That and being a person of color. And reading while a person of color, that is right out. We're starting our first of many forays into Lovecraft Country, both the book and the show (and eventually the larger mythos). We cover the general structure of both book and show, with some non-spoilery references up through episode seven. We discuss the role of othering in Lovecraft's racism and his cosmic horror, and how Lovecraft Country transforms the other by centering a variety of marginalized groups. There's really is no better way to honor such an important racist than by using his work to tell the stories of the oppressed.
