Description

Kelly talks to Executive Director of ACM Lifting Lives, Lyndsay Cruz, about how the country music community is opening up the mental health conversation post COVID shut down. With the recent suicide of Naomi Judd, one thing rings true, no matter who you are, how much money you have or how big your success, unaddressed mental health can make you sick or worse- end in death. Lyndsay talks about how even many people in the music industry struggled to feed their families and how ACM Lifting Lives is helping the community and fans alike.

"We are all gonna feel pain and it's ok. We have to get comfortable with pain as a part of the human experience. It's about navigating what to do and where to go when the pain gets unbearable."

Also, how to address mental health issues before it gets to the unbearable point.
Artists like John Osbourne of Brother's Osbourne have joined lifting lives to tell their own mental health stories.

Hi, I am Kelly Henderson and my greatest fulfillment in life comes from connecting with people. I have worked as a stylist and hair and makeup artist in the country music industry for over 12 years. My business is beauty, and this podcast allows me to take a deeper look at not only external beauty, but also beauty on a greater scale – the beauty that come from inside each of us. I like conversations that will stretch and challenge me. Some interviews will include hard conversations like infertility, racism and spirituality on many different levels, while others in the 'Act Casual' series may include uncomfortable, yet laughable topics about sex and dating. Obviously, because I am in Nashville and work in the country music industry, you will also find conversations with some of country music’s biggest stars such as Jason Aldean and Dierks Bentley and their wives. Ultimately, I am a curious person who loves learning about why we do what we do as people and why we are all really here. Join me to explore the ‘Velvet’ and the ‘Edge’ in life.
