Robert Townsend's showbiz satire on the limited roles for black actors in the 1980s is sharp, funny, and an early example of the kind of self-financed movies that would rise to prominence in the 1990s. Co-written and co-starring Keenen Ivory Wayans, who's own touches are all over this movie.
