Description
How much money are you spending on contractors and are you getting a return? In both of my businesses, my core team members are employees, however, we have dozens of contractors we use for certain things like Facebook ads, Youtube ads, graphics, etc. Just because they aren’t employees doesn’t mean you can’t have high expectations. You can have/request… Weekly meetings Reports - how often depends on what it is Accountability - what did they promise and what is happening a. What do you need from me to get us where you thought we could go? We hired someone for our studio Facebook ads and some Google stuff, it was a not inexpensive to say the least, I did my due diligence by calling a few friends up that were using them, they all had a great experience and really liked this person, they quoted me for a 12 month contract. I negotiated and said I wouldn’t commit to more than 6 months and confirmed I should be able to get a return before then, I let them know that if they were getting me a return, I would obviously stay with them. They agreed agreed to my conditions and yet every month I was still wracking my brain at no results, they would say things like “well look how many phone calls came in from google to the studio.” But people Google all the time, it didn’t necessarily mean they had anything to do with it, we were already showing up as the top 3 results in most of our keywords locally. Confused why you’re getting a return? We just kept getting vague, fluffy answers, and I finally had to remind them, that without results we wouldn’t be continuing. The story ends with me wasting 6 months of time and money, however, the good news is that’s all I wasted. Do you know how many of my friends signed 12 month contracts and renewed when it was over, they have no idea what kind of results they are getting but they hear the fluffy answers about calls and say yes I guess you’re right. You have to be careful!!! Inside of Well Oiled, we go even deeper talking about the contractor versus employee relationship and how to hold them accountable. Pros/cons of both, and our agendas for what we talk about at our weekly meetings with them. Comment agenda, if you’d like to see our 1:1 meeting agenda that can be modified for contractors.
