Description

I will define a fact, a lie and a delusion and speak about the difficulty in differentiating the three in situations where large numbers of people lie and steadfastly believe that their lies are facts and the facts of others are lies. When the President of the United States publicly endorses an individual such as Alex Jones who claims that the murder of school children in Newtown, Conn. is a lie perpetrated by the press and the parents who claim to have lost children we are in a serious crisis in relation to the individual and shared stories that we live by. Are Donald Trump and Alex Jones lying or are one or both of them delusional because they can no longer differentiate a lie from a fact. What happens to us as individuals when we can no longer believe that the facts we need for our survival are not facts but lies or delusions. What happens to a society without a shared set of facts taken as truths to bind the society together and set the common goals of the society.
