Description
A highly entertaining chat with Ed Piller, a lifelong cricket fan, who played u14s for Essex, but his career as a budding professional leg-spinner tailed off as selection chances fell away. HIs love of the game never left him and he tells us about following England all over the world and why he is no fan of the Barmy Army. A commercial opportunity at Surrey saw Ed become great mates with the Hollioake brothers and how one time, he had Phil Tufnell hiding from Mike Gatting in his hospitality box.
When a career in cricket never materialised, Ed turned to music and is well known for founding the Acid Jazz record label and discovering bands like Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, The James Taylor Quartet and many more. We talk Mods, Rockers, Skinheads and reggae..Ed was also part of the regeneration of the Hoxton area on the East End of London and tells us a great story about celebrities queuing up to get into his club the Blue Note. Really excellent stuff!
