Description

Oscar-winning editor, Lee Smith ACE is on the podcast to talk about his new hit film, 1917.  Directed by Sam Mendes and lensed by cinematographer, Roger Deakins ASC BSC, the film tells the tale of two British soldiers on a mission to cross the French countryside to warn their comrades-in-arms that they're walking into a trap.  Even before the critical acclaim and box-office success, 1917 was noted for its use of a simulated continuous take.  Lee talks to us about this process as well as what it's like to work with such celebrated directors as Mendes, Christopher Nolan and Peter Weir.  We also discuss his background in sound editing and design and how that influenced his work today and why he switched to picture editing so he could, "have it all". To hear all the latest interviews with the biggest names in TV and Film Post Production, subscribe to The Rough Cut. Get your own Avid Media Composer and use the same editing tools that Lee uses to tell epic tales like 1917!
