This week I break down the highlights so far from the Tours of Algarve and Andalucia before stopping to ask what any of these results actually mean in the big picture and in the context of the rest of the season (09:36).
With so many of the major GC contenders still holed away at their high-altitude training camps, the biggest takeaway so far is Richard Carapaz's poor performances so far, and if this means he will struggle to be a real contender at the Giro d'Italia in May (11:14). I then break down the modern training trends of grand tour winners, which have them coming into races at full fitness, versus the more old-school, race-into-fitness, strategy (21:27).
