It was revealed that NCAA Enforcement paid a recent visit to the University of Miami to inquire about NIL deals involving Miami Hurricanes student athletes. They conducted interviews with Life Wallet CEO John Ruiz. The headlines about the NCAA poking around in Miami has raised some concerns and frustrations from Canes football fans, but is there truly any cause for concern?
Ruiz described his meetings as pleasant and friendly and didn't feel like he was being interrogated or that the NCAA was looking to hand out any sort of punishments. He felt the inquiry is more about gathering information to "create a functioning standard for everybody," adding "There has to be better regulation."
Host Alex Donno explains why Miami and Ruiz should not have anything to worry about here, because Ruiz has legitimate businesses he is promoting through his NIL deals and appears to be doing everything by the book. Even so, it's a little aggravating to see the NCAA making Miami their first stop.
