Description
Big news came this week when the Olympics announced its plans to postpone the 2020 Olympic games in Japan amid the on-going concern over the coronavirus pandemic. For one Longhorn Legend, this news derails the hard work and dedication she has put forth to make her return to Team USA softball.
In this week's edition of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes open the show with a special guest appearance from Texas great pitcher Cat Osterman, who has been hard at work making her return to Team USA, though that work will be postponed after the Olympics decided to change the course for the 2020 games in Japan over the coronavirus pandemic. Osterman weighs in on how these changes impact her personally, but also takes a look back at her career during her time on the Forty Acres as her No. 8 jersey was set to be retired this week, though that too will be postponed since the University of Texas took drastic measures when it chose to cancel all remaining spring sports competitions, including Osterman's jersey retirement ceremony, and moved all course to online instruction.
In addition to the impact of the spring sports schedule, Texas football's spring practice schedule is in limbo amid the Coronavirus pandemic, so in the middle of the sports calendar being in limbo, Chip and Taylor take a look back at some of the best Longhorns over the last 30 years, who's time on the Forty Acres was not necessarily hyped as much as it should have been.
