Description

After almost a year of trying to get this together I finally got to talk to Ryan McGinnis, who ran the Milestone back in my heyday, and went on to play alongside Chris Peigler in My So-Called Band for many years after. We talk about how he ended up behind the soundboard at the Milestone and how that led to running the place, how he became the guitarist for MSCB, running the local music website, Still Not Dead, his more recent acoustic music, his new endeavor as an author, and so much more (including a hilarious story that involves yours truly and the police)! We also talk a good bit about Chris Peigler and his lasting influence on the Charlotte punk rock scene. Be sure to stick around to the very end, as this one has important double stingers!https://ryan-mcginnis.com/https://www.facebook.com/ryanmcginniswriterhttps://ryanmcginnis217.bandcamp.com/https://www.gabbagabbahuh.com/Brought to you by hobo Wolfman Records: https://www.hobowolfmanrecords.com/Music for GGHT40:My So-Called Band - WMDThe Spo-Its (Savannah, GA) - Free SexMy So-Called Band - Propped UpMy So-Called Band - The Punk Girl Next DoorMy So-Called Band - PinataMy So-Called Band - To Live and die in South CarolinaMy So-Called Band - Message BoardThe Not Likelys - La MigraRyan McGinnis (with David Childers, Live) - Someplace Along the RiverMcGinnis Project - Island WayMcGinnis Project - Big Night SkyRyan McGinnis (with Houston Bales) - Rusty Blue VanThis episode is brought to you by Hobo Wolfman Records. Welcome to the Gabba Gabba Huh? Podcast, featuring the best of The Carolinas' punk, alternative, hard rock, and heavy metal from the past 40 years. While the main podcast (Gabba Gabba Huh? Talks) will be more converstional and interview style, while "Gabba Gabba Huh? Radio" will focus on the music, with some background information on the songs and bands featured. Most songs will be digitized from original vinyl, cassette, or CD sources, thus the quality will vary, but will be rather true to the original form. Hosted by Mike Phillips from Van Huskins
