Maggie discusses the challenges of online teaching during the pandemic, and what it’s been like to work on her new book. Paul and Maggie also explore the similarities between dancing and writing, and the relation of both to performance and improvisation.Maggie Nelson is the author of nine books of poetry and prose, many of which have become cult classics defying categorization, and include titles such as The Argonauts(2015), The Art of Cruelty (2011), Bluets (2009), and The Red Parts (2007). In 2021 she will publish a work of cultural criticism tentatively titled The Myth of Freedom, followed by a collection of art essays in 2022. In 2016 she was awarded a MacArthur “genius” Fellowship.
