Description

LSU football is 1-1 after a MASSIVE 65-17 win over the Southern Jaguars in LSU's home opener and in the Tigers' and Jags' first meeting ever.
LSU will face much more robust competition throughout the season and the offensive fireworks we saw from LSU, especially in the first quarter, against Southern should be taken with a grain of salt considering the level of competition. However, there are still good and bad things that can be taken away from the Tigers' home competition with Southern. Overall, that win was the exact confidence boost this LSU team needed going into SEC play against Mississippi State this weekend.
There were some changes that needed to be made after LSU's loss to the Florida State Seminoles and it was glaringly obvious. Against Southern, LSU made those changes. There were some shifts on the offensive line and changes in personnel on special teams. The passing game looked more polished (this time it included Kayshon Boutte) and special teams had a great day, forcing a fumble and blocking a punt. But it wasn't all great from LSU on Saturday night, either. While it did not cost LSU the game, penalties and tackling still prove to be an issue for this squad. Caroline Fenton breaks down all of the good and all of the bad we can take away from LSU's first win of the Brian Kelly era.
