Description

During this year’s Nurse Week, Host D checked in with a guest from Season One, Nurse Sarah, who is currently tending to COVID-19 patients in Florida.  Nurse Sarah is a truly amazing voice on social media who uses her Instagram platform to address disparities in healthcare and share what it's been like working in the COVID unit. Last time we spoke with Sarah, she was transitioning from new grad to bedside nurse. Nurse Sarah is now two years in and speaks out about her current abnormal nurse reality working as an RN in a COVID unit in one of the country’s hardest hit areas. From incredibly untimely hospital budget cuts to the lack of PPE to the dangerous toll that this pandemic is taking on health care providers, D and Sarah emphasize the importance of understanding the magnitude of this pandemic.

The WoMed is a space to discuss, debate, and celebrate all things Women in Medicine! Danielle Maltby is joined by co-host Jackie Camardo to bring new issues and faces to light in the medical community. These nursing vets bring humor, reality, and a serious passion for the world around them to discussions on self-care, emerging healthcare trends, education, activism, patient stories, and pop culture representation of the industry. The hosts welcome not just women in medicine, but members of the LGBTQ communities in medicine as well, to ensure more people have a platform to amplify their voices. They are also joined by some of the industry’s biggest experts and thought-leaders! Nothing is off-limits, so listeners should come prepared to laugh, (maybe cry), and tune in to meaningful conversations that could change the way you see healthcare.
