LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is faced with a difficult decision: declare for the NFL Draft, make NFL money, and take the next step, or return to LSU and continue to build upon the progress he has made in year one? As LSU starts to extend offers to players in the transfer portal in positions of need (tight end, defensive line, cornerback, etc.), we won't know if quarterback is a position of need for the Tigers until Daniels makes his decision about where he wants to be in 2023.
Garrett Nussmeier also has to be part of this conversation. If Daniels comes back for another year in Baton Rouge, will Nuss be willing to spend another year as a backup? If not, will Brian Kelly and the LSU coaching staff need to find a viable backup via transfer portal? Can Nussmeier compete with Daniels for the starting job next season if he decides to return, or has Daniels locked up the job for another year?
