Description

[Comment: Surrender]
Friends of the Rosary:
Today is the Memorial Day of St. Catherine of Siena, virgin and doctor, mystic and writer, and one of the leading figures of the Church in the fourteenth century.
At the early age of seven, she devoted herself to God. At 21, she experienced a "mystical marriage to Christ." She learned to surrender to Jesus as a goal to be reached through time.
She was known for her miracles and ecstasies. She was given the stigmata, as well. Thousands came to see her, to be converted by her. She was a helper and a consoler in every need.
Her influence reached ecclesiastical matters: she persuaded cardinals and princes to promise allegiance to the Rome pontiff. Even Pope Gregory XI returned from Avignon to Rome.
She was the first woman, along with Teresa of Ávila, to be declared a "doctor of the Church."

A revealing quote from this popular saint: “He will provide the way and the means, such as you could never have imagined. Leave it all to Him, let go of yourself, lose yourself on the Cross, and you will find yourself entirely.”
