Description
Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast.
In today's session we examine WEALTH - what we consider as wealth and how we gather, store, try to increase and protect our wealth vs what the Buddha considers as wealth and what is the best kind of wealth.
Very timely for all the changes, challenges and fears we have regarding our skills, assets and wealth.
We go through some of the stories from the time of the Buddha, particularly some wealthy or rich people, and the wise counsel and teachings of the Buddha helping us to discern what is true wealth. How is it possible to convert our wealth into something wholesome and meritorious? And what is the wealth we can never lose to natural disasters, theft, trickery or corruption?
Some of the suttas covered directly or indirectly in this session:
— Mahaddhana Sutta (SN 1.28)
— Ānandaseṭṭhi Vatthu (Dhp 62)
— Byasana Sutta (AN 5.130)
— Aputtakaseṭṭhi Vatthu (Dhp 355)
— Metta Sutta (AN 7.62)
— Velāma Sutta (AN 9.20)
— Vitthatadhana Sutta (AN 7.6)
