Joining me today is Jerome Spear from JE Spear Consulting. Jerome is an industrial hygienist and has been in the industry for over 3 decades. If you don’t know what an industrial hygienist is, don’t worry you will by the end of the episode. I thought I knew what an industrial hygienist was but I only knew a small portion of what they actually do. I’ve been wanting to do this episode for over a year now but it turns out Industrial Hygiene is a pretty niche industry. My main reason to have an Industrial hygienist on the show was to discuss welding fumes, the potential hazards they poses and how best to mitigate exposure for welders in the shop, as well as in the field.  We do a bit of a deep dive in to one specific compound that I wanted to raise awareness to and that is Hexavalent Chromium which is found primarily when cutting and welding stainless steel. We discuss some other hazards as well.
