Purdue lost on Saturday at Indiana as part of a slate with six different matchups between AP-ranked teams. In a single-day record, five of those six games ended with the lower-ranked team as the victor. Despite the loss, Matt Painter’s team should still be No. 1 in the nation when the rankings refresh on Monday. Zach Edey and Trayce Jackson-Davis had an incredible matchup in the game, although 7’4 Edey dwarfed 6’9 Jackson-Davis. Houston and Alabama both have cases to be No. 1, but Purdue’s resume is currently stronger.

St. Mary’s knocked off Gonzaga in overtime on Saturday and are now in the driver’s seat to win the WCC. If they do so, it would be the first time since 2011-12 that Gonzaga hasn’t won at least a share of the conference title.
