Description

Yielding isometrics? Overcoming isometrics? Eccentric quasi isometrics? What do these look like, and how can they be applied in rehab and in training? PhD candidate Dustin Oranchuk is on the podcast this week to discuss these questions and so much more!

Dustin's journey as a researcher in the field of Strength and Conditioning has taken him from Canada, to New Zealand, to Australia, and he's been a part of publishing some fantastic literature along the way. Notably, he spearheaded a review paper titled "Isometric training and long‐term adaptations: Effects of muscle length, intensity, and intent: A systematic review" which has been a favorite of ours when it comes to putting isometric training into practice.

Dustin discusses this paper with the Clinical Athlete team, as well as some recent work regarding the effects eccentric quasi-isometrics, and future considerations when it comes to utilizing isometrics in training. Enjoy!
