That is, until Spider-Man is framed for a museum theft in Johnny’s town of Glenville. Spider-Man, obviously unimpressed that he has been framed for a crime he did not commit, heads to Glenville and tries to talk to Johnny about teaming up and proving his innocence. Johnny, believing that Spider-Man is the criminal the papers now say he is, flies off the handle, flames on, and battles Spider-Man. They battle over the streets of Glenville to a standstill.
