For just the 2nd time since the NCAA Tournament field expanded to 64 teams in 1985, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina will all miss the Sweet 16. At least one of that foursome has made every Sweet 16 since 1985 except 2021 and now 2023. Kentucky fell on Sunday to a Kansas State team that has been one of the great storylines of the season for a multitude of reasons: picked dead last in the Big 12, Jerome Tang’s first year, Keyonte Johnson return to action, and more.

Gonzaga advanced to their 8th straight Sweet 16, this time on the back of Drew Timme’s impressive Round of 32 performance. Miami sent another blue blood, Indiana, packing with an impressive outing from Isaiah Wong and Jordan Miller.

The Big East had four teams in action on Sunday with three advancing on to the Sweet 16 (UConn, Creighton, and Xavier). The Big East is tied with the SEC for the most teams left in the field.
