Description

Mindset Coach Leah Jantzen is here to dust us off from our failed resolutions and help us put a plan together to make real change. She encourages us to start small, create good habits and build on those to develop confidence in ourselves. Some takeaways from our conversation include:1. The process of getting started in something new is - being bad at something, working through it, getting better. Rinse and Repeat. This builds confidence. 2. Setting too many unrealistic resolutions or choosing too many resolutions is an automatic set up for failure. 3. Go Deep with Less. Choose Two to three things tops. For example, Instead of saying I’m going to lose 50 pounds, say I’m going to be more healthy, I’m going to move my body for 10 minutes a day, I’m going to drink more water. Start there. Develop new habits and build on those.4. The most important thing that you can do that will keep you on track is to develop your WHY. It will keep you going each day even when it sucks or it’s hard. SOUNDBITE5. Visualization is the key to train your brain to “see” what you are working toward.6. Know that when you working toward something, the path probably won’t be linear. You may lose 5 pounds, then gain two, then lose 3 and gain 1. This is where mindset work comes in. You have to see through those roadblocks and be present in the moment.7. Surround yourself with the right people that know what you are up against to help you and give you support. A coach, A community, An Accountability partner8. If someone close to you isn’t supportive, know that it’s not about you, it’s about them. And if you don’t bend to their pressure, they’ll respect you more and you’ll be setting a great example for them. 9. There is no instant gratification. If you are in it, know that it may be slow going. You just have to stay with it. Have faith in the process.10. Come up with your own highlight reel to help you on days when the mental battle is real.11. Every single person struggles with motivation sometimes. You are not the only one.12. Don’t reward yourself with going backward - choose something related or in alignment to your goal. Don’t celebrate losing 10 pounds with ice cream. Celebrate with a new outfit.13. You don’t need permission to go after something you want. Know that you are worthy of wanting better or more for yourself. 14. You’re going to fail. Nobody cares.
