Description

When you design with Biophilia in mind, you can transform buildings for the better. We look at 2 Case Studies of Residential Architecture which use Biophilic Design to bring light, texture and inspiration to homes. Plus we look at a larger commercial space, the Shelter for Victims of Domestic Abuse" which opens onto a wide courtyard providing a haven in Israel. These three projects are designed by Amos Goldreich of AG Architecture, an award-winning architectural practice. Amos shares with us his vision and how and why Biophilic Design were important in these spaces in relation to those who were using them. Amos discusses 4 key elements of Biophilic Design which he feels are important. The first is the Visual Connection, how to design making sure you can see the garden throughout the interior space. The second point is to bring nature in, especially through natural light. This is why he opens up spaces as much as he can, using "up and over" windows and skylights. The third is not visual, but through incorporating scents and sounds. And lastly, how these all work together will influence how you use the space, and then how that space gives a positivity back to you in terms of wellbeing.
