It affects about 3.5 percent of women and 2 percent of men.According to the National Eating Disorders, BED is a severe, life-threatening, and treatable eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food, often very quickly and to the point of discomfort. Some symptoms are feeling a loss of control during the binge; experiencing shame, distress, or guilt afterwards; and regularly using unhealthy compensatory measures to counter the binge-eating.Please contact the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) helpline at 800-931-2237 if you believe you or someone you love are struggling with an eating disorder and need help. For crisis situations, text "NEDA" to 741741 to be connected with a trained volunteer at Crisis Text Line._____TOPICS IN THIS EPISODE INCLUDE eating disorders, binging, binge eating disorder, therapy, acting, addiction, recovery, actress life, auditioning, career, past beliefs, negative self-talk, secrets, behaviors, gratitude, attitude, self-care, self-love, courage, freedom and happiness._____Jen Levin is an actress/blogger with Southern charm and Jersey moxie living in LABlog: http://findingmyinnerbombshell.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/thejenlevin/IG: https://www.instagram.com/thejenlevin/_____If you or anyone you know is struggling with an addiction, depression, trauma, or sexual abuse, we've compiled a list of resources at https://secretlifepodcast.com.If you'd like to share your secret on the show or want to share your thoughts about an episode, please send an email to secretlifepodcast@icloud.com.______HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE SHOW?Tell Your Friends & Share Online!Subscribe, Rate & Review: Apple PodcastsFollow & Listen Spotify | Stitcher | Google PodcastsSpread the word via social mediaInstagramTwitterFacebook#SecretLifePodcastDonateYou can also support the show with a one-time or monthly donation via PayPal (make payment to secretlifepodcast@icloud.com) or at our WEBSITE.Connect with Brianne Davis-Gantt (@thebriannedavis)InstagramFacebookTwitterhttp://briannedavis.comConnect with Mark Gantt (@markgantt)www.markgantt.comInstagramFacebookTwitter

Brianne Davis: I'm a Recovering Sex and Love Addict: I was a shell of a person when I walked into my first Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous meeting. As I listened to people share about this thing called sex and love addiction. Tears started to form in my eyes when I said I was a newcomer. I was crying not out of sadness, but an overwhelming feeling of hope. For the first time in my life, I didn't feel alone or broken. We have a saying in the rooms; "No one can meet our deepest needs, no matter how hard we try." And believe me, I tried. Let's just say, I was the worst person you might have ever met before I got sober. I was a liar, a cheat, and a thief. I used men as my drug of choice. I wanted to have power and control over anyone and anything because I felt so powerless inside. I had this dark hole I was always trying to fill with outside things. And I could not stop even when I desperately wanted to. Every day I see people at the lowest of lows. They are clawing their way out from und by Secret Life
