Description
The Stanley Cup will reside in Las Vegas for at least the next year. VGK clinched the Cup Final with a 9-3 victory over the depleted Florida Panthers on Tuesday night 9-3. This was a Golden Knights team that closed it out with a Mark Stone hat trick and 15 different players had points. This has become the trademark of VGK with different players stepping up each night and again it was a total team effort. VGK also did it on defense with 123 total blocked shots in the Cup Final and Adin Hill continued to shine in net. The Conn Smythe Award winner was Original Misfit Jonathan Marchessault, who tallied 13 goals in his past 15 playoff games. Jack Eichel and Hill ran a close second in the race. VGK averaged four goals a game in the playoffs. This was a team that didn't make the playoffs last season and used the past summer to reset and focus on this season. The VGK front office and head coach Bruce Cassidy, who celebrates one year with VGK today, deserves its flowers for constructing and managing the team. Bill Foley promised to have a more active role in the organization after the team failed to make the playoffs last season. He also had his dream fulfilled on Tuesday night by bringing his Cup In Six prediction to life. What a Run!
