Description

Our Bluegrass Gospel version of "Palms of Victory " Lyrics below with Guitar Chords The song is clearly based on the story of John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, a book that was widely read in the 19th Century, and that had a profound influence on the Christian world-view among all denominations. The gospel song, Palms of Victory, also called “Deliverance Will Come,” and “The Way-worn Traveler,” was written in 1836 by the Rev. John B. Matthias, a Methodist Episcopal minister in New York state in the 19th century.D A7 DI saw a wayward traveler in tattered garments clad A7 DAnd struggling up the mountain it seemed that he was sad A7 DHis back was laden heavy his strength was almost gone A7 DIt shouted as he traveled deliverance has comeD A7 Then palms of victory crowns of glory D A7 DPalms of victory I shall wear D A7 DThe summer sun was shining, the sweat was on his brow A7 DHis garments worn and dusty, his step seemed very slow A7 D But he kept pressing onward, for he was going home A7 DStill shouting as he journeyed, "Deliverance will come!"
