A difficult medium mountain day with a tough 4.3km 9.5% finish to the stage amidst atrocious conditions. A nightmare for a GC man hiding weak legs and perhaps an opportunity for a large break to form with the maglia rosa up for grabs. Chaotic coverage and some cracks in the GC men were the story of the day.
