Description
This week we are taking a look at the JFK 50, which is a 50 mile run located in Maryland. The JFK 50 is "America's Oldest Ultramarathon" dating back to 1963 and has a rich history that makes this race one that every runner should put on their calendar at some point.
The race is broken down into 3 segments. The Appalachian trail segment which starts with 2.5 miles on a road before entering the trailhead for the Appalachian trail for another 13 miles. After that, runners will run 26.3 miles on the C&O Canal towpath which is flat and unpaved, and then leaving the towpath, they get back on paved rolling country roads for the final 8.4 miles.
This course is point to point and has over 1000 runners. This race is a fun one and we highly recommend it.
Join us as we sit down with Mike Spinnler, Race Director for the JFK 50.
