Since 2020 more people work remotely. This has created a whole new dynamic when raising kids. Parents can now attend more school events and class parties which is really exciting and fun! Finding the perfect work corner is not as exciting. Will it be the bedroom? The garage? Decisions, decisions! Sometimes you have to rearrange the house a few times to figure out the perfect place. One thing that is extra stressful for domestic engineers is trying to keep the kids quiet and happy when their spouse is in a meeting or on a work call. Let’s face it, kids are loud. There are times when it doesn’t matter how many strategies you use to prep the kids… they’re just going to yell, scream, laugh, or play tag in the living room. Kids are still kids. Try not to get too frustrated when you don’t get that quiet outcome you were hoping for. Give yourself grace Mama. Preplanning activities like legos, magnatiles, baking, or crafting can help keep your kids quiet for a little while. If all else fails, take on the Scrunchie Mom attitude, and give your kids an iPad, crackers, and an organic juice box. You’re doing a great job Mom!
