This is the second interview onEntreArchitect  Echolfest, a meeting of the architecture minds in the hills (or mountains)  of Vermont in August of 2021.Ann Sussman, RA, is an architect, author and researcher passionate about understanding how people experience buildings. Her book, Cognitive Architecture, Designing for How We respond to the Built Environment  (Routledge, 2015) co-authored with Justin B. Hollander, won the 2016 Place Research Award from the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA). A 2nd edition, featuring 40 color images of eye-tracked architecture, came out in July (2021). Ann teaches a course on how buildings make people feel, called Architecture&Cognition, at the Boston Architectural College (BAC). (it’s open enrollment so feel free to sign up!) She also serves as President of the educational and research non-profit, the Human Architecture and Planning Institute, Inc. (theHapi.org) based in Concord, MA.
